A simple calendar rhyme used to teach children the days of the week, often while bouncing a baby on the knee. This rhyme can be traced back to at least the early 19th century, with a version published as early as 1805. It was included in significant collections of nursery rhymes, such as "The Nursery Rhymes of England" by James Halliwell (1886) and "The Nursery Rhyme Book" edited by Andrew Lang (1897). The rhyme gained renewed popularity in the 1970s when Dany Rosevear adapted the words for BBC's 'Music Time' program, introducing it to a new generation of children.
